Nikka Miyagikyo Date

Nikka Miyagikyo, born from the vision of Masataka Taketsuru – a pioneer who studied distilling in Glasgow and apprenticed at Scottish distilleries – embodies a uniquely Japanese interpretation of the Scotch style he admired. Established in 1968 as a companion to Yoichi, Miyagikyo distillery, nestled in the Miyagi prefecture, crafts a lighter, more delicate single malt whisky. While exploring varied peating levels, its spirit is characterized by floral and subtly fruity notes, offering a refined counterpoint to the bolder flavours of Yoichi. This whisky pays homage to Date Masamune, the influential feudal lord of the region, and presents a harmonious balance at 43% ABV.
