An octave, as the name implies, is one-eighth of the capacity of a Sherry butt, with a volume of between 60 and 70 litres, for maximum oak influence on the spirit. The Huntly is a blended malt comprised from whisky distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2017. During that time, the whisky spent 5 months in an octave cask, soaking up those toasty vanilla influences. Only 98 bottles were produced.
