About this whisky
- Region:
Distilled in 1990 at the historic Ardbeg Distillery – founded in 1815 on the windswept southern coast of Islay – this Airigh Nam Beist bottling represents a cherished expression from a distillery once facing closure. The spirit, uniquely refined with a purifier, yields a character known for its surprising fruity and zesty notes alongside the expected Islay peat. This long-discontinued whisky delivers a powerfully peaty experience, beautifully balanced by a subtle honeyed sweetness, evoking the landscape surrounding the loch from which it takes its name. Bottled in 2007 at 46% ABV, ‘the Beist’ – pronounced ‘Arry nam Baysht’ – offers a complex and memorable taste of Islay’s renowned character.
