About this whisky
- Region:
Kilchoman Autumn 2009 represents a pioneering spirit – the first distillery built on Islay in over a century, reviving a tradition potentially tracing back to Scotland’s earliest distillations in the 1300s. Matured for three years primarily in bourbon barrels, this whisky gains depth and complexity from a finishing period in sherry butts, alongside contributions from a refill barrel. The result is a robust Islay single malt at 46% ABV, offering a compelling balance of sweet fruit notes with the characteristic peat smoke of the region. Kilchoman’s commitment to on-site production, from malting to bottling, ensures a uniquely Islay character in every drop.
